We have been observing how the weather effects our environment, looking at how different things can seem in the Winter frost. We even enjoyed catching snowflakes on our tongue when there was a brief flurry of snow. Class 1 really enjoyed seeing how we could melt blocks of ice. We carried out am experiment to see whether we could melt it quickest with, salt, hot water or by using a hair dryer. It was all very exciting and the children made predictions and justified their choices. Some children thought the salt, as Mr Mann had put salt on the playground.. It was actually the hot water that melted it fastest.
We have also been looking at life in polar regions. Take a look at our sugar cube and marshmallow igloos. We did so well not eating them!
