This week, your topic learning is based around the Julia Donaldson book 'The Troll' and pirates!
Your challenge is to build your own bridge, just like the ones in the story.
You can make this using anything you wish! You could use straws, card, paper cups... or even LEGO / any construction toys you have at home.
Here are a few pictures to give you some inspiration, but I'm sure you will use your imaginations and come up with some marvellous ideas.
Think carefully about the materials you will use and how you will join them together.
You could even design your bridge before you make it by writing down a list of materials and drawing and labelling what you want it to look like. Then when it's finished, you could write a short evaluation. How did it turn out? Are you pleased with how it looks/ how strong it is?
Can you test the strength of your bridge? What kind of investigation could you do? E.g. how many pennies can your bridge hold? How many LEGO people? What could you do to make your bridge stronger?
Can you build a bridge that can bear a 1kg (approx. 2lb) weight?
(You could use something like a bag of sugar as the weight)
Have fun! We cannot wait to see your brilliant designs and creations!
* Make a pirate treasure chest using an old cardboard box. What will you put inside?
